We
have a number of events scheduled for the benefit of children.
One
outstanding rule that MUST be followed is this:
NO ALCOHOL IS TO BE CONSUMED BEFORE
OR DURING RUNS THAT INVOLVE CHILDREN.
If
you feel compelled to partake in your favorite beverage, please wait
till the events are over to do so. There is usually a C-Store
nearby.
If
for some reason a member or guest is guilty of appearing intoxicated or
having alcohol on their breath...they will be asked to remain behind
and not allowed to participate in that event.
This
is a serious matter folks, and there will be ZERO TOLERANCE.

May Meeting:
FCMA Regular Meeting Minutes
2 May 09
Held at the VFW at 7:00 p.m.
The
meeting was called to order by Chairman, Jack Shelledy at 7:10 p.m.,
followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.
Jerry Jones gave the opening prayer.

Mueller, Mike Hedrick, Janie Maples, Jerry Franklin, Lisa Shelledy and
Bob Carrender.
Ex-Officio Presidential Member present was Charles Stilfield. Tommy
Chandler, Life Director attended.
Financial Oversight Committee: Members present were Vicki Hedrick,
Myron Riha, Paula Franklin, Dave Lawson and Laura Darrah.
Jack welcomed everyone to the meeting.
The minutes from the last meeting were read. There were no
additions or changes, so the minutes stand as read.
There were 80 members, 9 guests and 24 junior members present.
There is a total of 131 paid members to date.
Treasurers report- Mona gave the financial report. We have
$5,189.47 in the account. The report was accepted.
Financial
Oversight Committee - Vicki announced that the patches, pins, lighters,
DVDs are for sale. There is also the 50/50 pot you can purchase tickets
on. The sloppy joe dinner made $114 tonight. The next dinner will be
hamburgers and hotdogs. She said there was a rack left after
the
last dinner. No one had claimed it. She received a flyer from the
Liberty Arts program. The were requesting a donation to send a kid to
camp. The amount is $250.00. Jack asked the membership what they all
thought. They OK’d it by a show of hands. Vicki announced a new
member to the finance committee. Pam Lawson. Myron Riha told that the
window decals are coming along and he should have them very soon.
James
Maples-Vice Chairman-Jack stepped up for James and spoke. James has had
a lot going on, good and bad. He is a new grampa! Little James Allen
was born April 24. Congratulations! A couple of days later his mom
passed. He had been gone to Tennessee for the funeral and just got back.
Scott
Phillips-First Officer- He talked about the stupid stunt he had done.
He advised everyone not to what he did. It’s not worth it and it’s
very painful! He thanked everyone for standing by him and all the help
he had received. He received a standing ovation welcome back!
Mike Hedrick-Sgt At Arms-Thanked everyone for safe practices, Keep it
up!
Steve
Mueller-Road Captain-He thanked everyone who participated in the Easter
Ride. The blockers worked out great. The policemen helped us out a lot.
The Deputy Sheriff not only blocked Highway 50 for us, he joined us at
the Youth Home and then returned to eat with us. There was one break
down and one accident. No one was hurt. The bike damage amounted to
around $5,000. He spoke of the upcoming meeting of the Combat Vets in
Clinton. Jack said he would speak more on it later.
Janie
Maples-Public Relations-A member of the Moose Lodge gave her a flyer.
She had him speak about it. They are having a poker run and invited us
to attend. She thanked everyone who helped with the benefit
dinner and the Easter Run. We received a letter of appreciation for the
food after the benefit.
July 18th there will be a Downtown BBQ with the Men’s Auxilary, VFW
Post 2591. It will be an outside event. More to come.
The
monthly dinners need donations to help with the cost of putting them
on. It benefits us because all proceeds go to our Christmas
Dinner/party. Please let Trena or Judy know what you can bring. The
more volunteers for donations, the less everyone has to take out of
their
pocket. Jack told Trena to get a list together with names
and phone numbers and to call the volunteers to remind them of what
they were going to bring prior to the next meeting.
Jerry
Franklin-Events Coordinator-was absent so Dave Lawson stood in for him.
The next trash pickup will be 17 May. Leave the End Zone at 1 oclock.
Next month is the bike show at the End Zone--more to come. He announced
he had calendars available at the front table.
Bob
Carrender-Bylaws Custodian-He read part of the bylaws for the road
captain. He told the membership to volunteer at riding events. It’s a
big job.
Lisa Shelledy-New Recruits-We will be working the
Poultry Grill during the fair. Our dates will be the 15th and the 22nd.
It got split up this year. The hours on the 15th will be 3-9 and on the
22nd, 9-3. She will have a sign up sheet at the next meeting. Jack
spoke up and said that the Combat Vets were meeting in Clinton the same
day. We need some to volunteer to work the Grill and the rest to ride
to Clinton. Both are a good cause. More later. She asked if there were
any members who wanted to sponsor in a new member.
Shane Lynch
introduced Bob Lynch. He needed a regular member to sponsor him. Greg
Allain stood up, said he had known Bob for a long time and he would be
proud to sponsor him in.
Michael Allen sponsored his fiance, Markie.
Dugan Layton sponsored in Al Young.
Candy Sommers sponsored in Dennis Rapp.

Shane and Stephanie Lynch

Jack-Chairman-
He talked of the success of the Easter Run. It was a huge day for the
FCMA! The kids loved their Easter baskets and the rides afterwards.
They were waiting for us when we pulled in the lane! Steve Mueller did
an excellent job! The blockers did a great job. He appreciated the
officers helping us, it made our ride a lot easier. The tail
gunners did a good job, no traffic got in between us. We had riders
from Cole Camp and the Combat Vet organization. We had a tremendous
turn out. Every year it gets better! Be sure to thank the Combat Vets
any time you see them.
There are a lot of events coming up.
The Bike Show at the End Zone-the jr members will be more involved in
it. It is a memorial for Bill Jones. He was a long time member. When we
can, we donate a portion of the proceeds to the American Cancer
Society. We havent’ been able to the past few years because we had to
take care of our own. Hopefully this year, everyone will stay alive and
uninjured and we can make a sizeable donation. Full Moon cannot play
that night, so we are going to get Bonecuzie to play.
Any suggestions or concerns need to be brought to the board for
discussion and repair if needed.
Mary
Roberts and Brad Vansell stood and spoke of the new helmet law that is
on the Governor’s desk awaiting his signature. It has two parts. The
first part talks of no one over the age of 21 has to wear a helmet on
non interstates. The second part has to doing away with the insurance
company assessing the rider partial liability, so they don’t have to
pay out fully. It would do away with this practice. They encouraged
everyone to email, call or write to the governor and ask him to sign it
into law. There is groups out there that want him to veto it.
Don’t’ let this happen!
It had been discussed by the board
to have the dirt drags twice a year. It really can’t happen this
year, but it will be considered starting next year. Biff asked if they
were considering ATVs. Jack said yes, but we would have to wait until
next year. We are going to try to make it a 2 day event.
Jack
asked if there was any old business. Biff asked if there were
copies of the bylaws for each member. He was answered not yet. They are
being updated. Should be available soon.
New business:
The July Meeting has been rescheduled to the 11th of July with the 4th
falling on meeting night.
Charles
Stilfield asked about a float trip this summer. Every one enjoyed it
last time! Lisa told him yes, but we are doing it different this year.
A date will be selected and a text sent out. Each member wanting to go
will be responsible for making their own reservations. He also asked if
the Christmas fund could be split and used to pay for the float trip.
Lisa answered him no. The Christmas dinner and party is fully paid for
and cost quite a bit. The ā€œ9ā€ does a lot together and we
want
all members to know what and were we are doing--ALL are welcome!
Tommy Chandler brought books for the vets to learn about their
benefits. Come get um!
The
Salvation Army asked us to help them move to a new building.
They
are planning on doing it sometime in June. All we have to do is load
and unload the trucks. More to come, watch for a text!
Dave
Lawson announced that on Wednesday the 6th, Tommy Chandler will be
presenting a plaque to the manager of Golden Corral for their support
of vets. There will be pictures taken for the paper. All are welcome!
Travis
Monteer asked about doing the dirt drags during the State Fair. It had
been discussed, but not worked. He thanked him for thinking!
The 50/50 drawing was for $38. Steve Mueller’s ticket was drawn. He
gave it to the FCMA.
Meeting adjourned at 0840.
Respectfully submitted,
Melissa Mueller
Secretary

Spring
into Action - Checklist for a Trouble-Free Return to the Road
The
arrival of warmer temperatures in spring means a long-anticipated
return to the road for a number of winter-weary riders. For
those
climate-challenged enthusiasts forced to store their ride over the
winter months, the first ride of the season should be preceded by a
thorough check-up.
Checklist:
TIRES:
Look carefully for signs of weather cracking and test the tread depth
in several places. If your tires are cracked or worn, invest
in
new ones. Also, be sure to check the tire pressure. If you
tires
are the originals, inflate to the pressure specified in the owner's
manual. If they aren't the originals, it is best to consult
the
tire manufacturer's recommended pressure on the sidewall of the tire.
WHEELS:
Check your wheels for loose spokes or bent rims.
LIGHTS:
Check for cracking and condensation on the lenses. Test your
headlamp, turn signals, tail and brake lights to insure they are in
working condition. Replace failed bulbs.
BATTERY:
Make sure your battery is fully charged. Replace it if the
case
is bulging. Clean battery terminals before installing.
FLUIDS:
Check the levels of your engine oil, hydraulic fluid, brake fluid,
coolant and fuel. Replace or refill those that need
it. If
your bike did not get an oil and filter change prior to winterizing,
take care of it now.
CONTROLS:
Ensure the throttle twists freely and snaps back in the off
position. Examine cables and hoses for damage and be sure
they do
not interfere with suspension and steering.
BRAKES:
Inspect your brake pads and liners and replace them if they are worn.
SUPPLIES:
Examine your took kit and first aid kit to make sure you have the items
necessary in the event of an accident or breakdown.
INSURANCE:
review your insurance policy. Be sure your policy is
up-to-date
and you are covered for any valuable accessories you added during the
winter.
If anyone has
news they need or want to post here, please contact me and I will get
it posted.
